The Social Game

Early Winter term I posted about my excitement for the upcoming term. I titled the post, The Education I Pay For. One of the comments left on that post talked about a game. Since that time I have taken to playing that game off and on. However, what I've observed maybe slightly skewed seeing as most of my classes fall under the science/engineering heading. I also never actually sat in the back of a class, except Calculus lab and Book of Mormon, so I don't know how well I've gotten the full picture.

Non-Science Classes:
Norm "the girl is the M in your gravity equation. All the little m boys sit as close as they can."
My Observations:
Rel A 121: Book of Mormon
This was my only non-science class, and so my conclusions here are that yes the boys like to sit as close as they can. That is unless you show up to class with your hood up, ipod in, and then proceed to tell them that you are a mechanical engineering major for kicks. Then the people that talk to you tend to be those that live with you, and the guy that would like you to tell your friend to go out with him.

Science/Engineering Classes:
Norm "In science classes, the girl is a nucleus and the electron boys orbit around".
My observations:
ME 172:Drafting
In this class there are all of ten girls. I'm not even kidding. At least one was already married, and a couple of others looked as though they intend to never make that walk. For the rest, my self included, they quickly decided that the safest option was to find friends and always sit with those same friends. This path guarantees someone to talk to, and fewer guys seemingly hovering. So yeah, I'd have to go with orbiting boys.

CE 103:Statics
Here the number of girls increases by about ten, as the class size decreases by about forty. But here too, I pretty much have the same story to tell. I love having classes with people I already know, thanks Mel.

Math 113 and Physics 121: Fun
These two classes while completely related to science/engineering showed a layout more like those of non-science classes. The boys sit close, and attempt to get you to explain what it is that the professor is talking about during lecture. Yeah, not happening, I would like to pass this class. Mostly I feel as though the boys are simply more confident because the numbers are more even in these classes. Because in math lab, a four to sixteen ratio, they clam up, unless you ask them a question, or for help, then they will invade the single chair bubble you seem to have going on, no matter how late to class you show up.

In conclusion boys are like jellyfish, pretty to look at, but better to stay away. At least until I actually turn 18. ;)
